Senior Java Developer
Do you want to build Java solutions that make a real impact? Join TWN and contribute to Estonia’s digital future. 🚀
We are looking for a senior Java developer with an architectural mindset, who wants to contribute not only to hands-on development, but also to shaping, describing and documenting technical solutions, as well as preparing the technical content for proposals and trial assignments.
This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys seeing the bigger picture of a system, collaborating closely with architects and analysts, and taking responsibility for the quality of complex technical solutions.
In this role, you will:
Contribute to the development of complex information systems, thereby improving the lives of nearly every person in Estonia - we never run out of challenges!
Develop and maintain Java-based applications and microservices.
Design, implement and document technical and architectural solutions in collaboration with architects, analysts and service designers - both in ongoing projects and as part of new proposals and trial assignments.
Lead the resolution of more complex technical challenges and support junior developers.
Ensure code quality through testing, code reviews and improving development practices.
Optimize system performance, security and scalability.
Contribute to improving development best practices, including CI/CD, DevOps and Agile ways of working.
We expect you to have:
At least 5 years of hands-on experience in Java development.
Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Angular and PostgreSQL.
Practical experience in building REST services.
Experience with message-based solutions (e.g., RabbitMQ).
Experience with CI/CD systems.
The ability to think systematically and see technical solutions as part of a bigger picture.
Interest and ability to describe architectural solutions and document technical decisions.
Willingness to contribute to the technical content of proposals and trial assignments.
The ability to independently solve complex technical tasks and take responsibility for solution quality.
Experience working in an Agile development environment.
Strong analytical skills.
Very good Estonian and English language skills.
Nice to have:
Knowledge of Kubernetes, including container management.
Interest in applying AI in software development.
Previous experience in developing public sector information systems and knowledge of X-Road and the Estonian Government Cloud.
Previous exposure to public procurements, proposals or technical trial assignments.
Experience in describing solution architecture or preparing technical documentation.
